Music & Licensing

Using the wrong music in campaign content can lead to takedowns, muted audio, or content rejection. This guide covers safe music sources and what to avoid.

Safe Sources

SourceLicense TypeNotes
TikTok Commercial Music LibraryCommercial use approvedAvailable in TikTok's sound picker under "Commercial Sounds"
Instagram Music Library (Creator accounts)Platform-licensedBroader selection than business accounts
Epidemic SoundSubscription licensePopular with creators, covers YouTube + social

Original audioYou own itAlways the safest option

What to Avoid

  • Trending sounds on TikTok without checking commercial licensing.
  • Popular songs by major artists (almost never licensed for ads).
  • "Royalty-free" from random websites — verify the license actually covers commercial/sponsored use.
  • AI-generated music that mimics copyrighted songs.

Rejection Triggers

Content may be rejected during review if:

  • The audio is from a non-commercial library.
  • A copyright claim has already been filed against the track.
  • The audio drowns out a required verbal disclosure.
  • The music is inappropriate for the brand's audience (explicit lyrics, etc.).
When in doubt, use original audio or the platform's built-in commercial music library. These are always safe for sponsored content.
